The Orchid School welcomed Wing Commander Puneet Sharma (Retd.) for an InspireX session introducing students to the worlds of the Indian Air Force and civil aviation.
A former fighter pilot, Mr. Sharma served the Indian Air Force for nearly 23 years before moving into commercial aviation. Currently flying for SpiceJet, he has approximately 12,000 hours of flight experience across 21 military and civilian aircraft variants. His extensive background brought a valuable professional perspective to the session, offering students an opportunity to learn about aviation through the journey of an experienced pilot.
Mr. Sharma’s contribution also extends beyond flying. In 2014, he founded Swachh Pune Swachh Bharat, an initiative that mobilises volunteers to work towards a cleaner India. This aspect of his journey added a wider dimension to the interaction, connecting professional achievement with civic responsibility.
At The Orchid School, we organise InspireX sessions to help students connect their learning and aspirations with experiences beyond the classroom. Exposure to varied professional journeys broadens their understanding of future possibilities and the commitment those paths require. Mr. Sharma’s journey offered a meaningful connection between discipline, service and individual initiative—values we hope students will carry into their own choices, careers and participation in society.
