The Orchid School marked World Mental Health Day on 10 October with assemblies conducted by the counsellors of the Primary, Middle and Senior Secondary Domains. The sessions encouraged students to understand mental well-being through age-appropriate discussions on daily habits, peer relationships, coping strategies and seeking support.
The Primary Domain assembly explored the connection between physical and mental well-being. Students learned how nutritious food, adequate sleep, physical activity and balanced screen time contribute to everyday care. They also discussed simple ways to support one another. The assembly concluded with an interactive body percussion activity that encouraged movement, rhythm and collective participation.
In the Middle Domain, students reflected on their everyday experiences at school and considered how their words, actions and behaviour can influence their peers’ well-being. The session highlighted empathy, kindness and inclusion, encouraging students to identify small, meaningful changes they could make to help create a more supportive school community.
The Senior Secondary Domain assembly focused on the importance of mental health as part of overall well-being. Students were introduced to practical strategies for managing everyday stressors and encouraged to recognise when they might need support. Reaching out to trusted adults, teachers and counsellors was highlighted as an important step in caring for oneself.
Through these assemblies, The Orchid School reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing students’ holistic well-being and encouraging a culture where caring for oneself and looking out for others are shared responsibilities.
