Child Sexual Abuse is a sensitive, difficult yet an essential topic that demands our attention, as awareness and education are our strongest tools in prevention.
We at the Orchid School consider safeguarding our children’s well-being as our top priority. Hence, a session on understanding Child Sexual Abuse was planned for parents of grades I to VIII.
Parental involvement is a significant step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of children and understanding the realities of child sexual abuse is a critical step in ensuring their safety. With this aim in mind, a session by team Muskaan, an NGO working to prevent and help survivors of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) was planned for parents and teachers on the 23rd of November, Saturday.
The session included educating the parents about the warning signs, strengthening parent-child communication, highlighting the role of digital safety, information about legal frameworks (POCSO), encouraging proactive prevention, addressing misconceptions, and strengthening family support systems.
According to the parents, the session indeed was an eye-opener, helped them gain valuable insights and would help them stay more vigilant and informed as parents.
Through this session we hope to have empowered the parents with the knowledge, skills and confidence required to protect their children and create a safer and more informed community.
