Grade 1 students at The Orchid School showcased an engaging learning experience for their parents. The “Making Learning Visible” activity transcends traditional textbooks—it’s all about discovery, creativity, and tangible growth! During this event, students presented their progress through interactive activities, transforming learning into a collaborative experience. Various stations highlighted students’ understanding in subjects such as Mathematics, English, Hindi, Marathi, Environmental Studies, and Physical Education. The aim was to demonstrate their learning outcomes visually and interactively, providing parents with a glimpse into their children’s educational journey.
Mathematics
A variety of math stations featured engaging activities where students interacted with visiting parents. These included puzzles, number bond games using judo blocks and triangles, story sums, addition and subtraction manipulatives, and Number Facts. English and Comprehension. Language stations buzzed with activity as students eagerly demonstrated their understanding of the language to their parents. Engaging activities like the Sight Word Game, Sentence Parsing, Writing Rules, Fluency Strips, and Vocabulary games helped parents grasp their children’s progress in the subject.
Environmental Studies
The theme explored by students was “community helpers.” Parents participated by unscrambling word puzzles to identify these helpers, while students discussed their roles, making the station both interesting and interactive.
Hindi and Marathi
The language stations presented activities included a syllabification chart, family riddles, and a demonstration of a field trip using a chart. The “Making Learning Visible” activity serves as an opportunity for parents to grasp the curriculum’s scope and how it is integrated into their child’s life through various activities. Each moment is a learning opportunity that we proudly showcase.
