Recently, the Grade 9 students of The Orchid School had the unique opportunity to visit Muktangan Rehabilitation Centre in Pune, an experience that profoundly impacted their understanding of substance abuse and recovery. Muktangan, often referred to as more than just a rehabilitation center, provides a nurturing, non-judgmental environment where individuals struggling with addiction can rebuild their lives.
The visit began with a quiet and respectful introduction to the center’s ethos. Students were briefed on the importance of maintaining a serene atmosphere to support those in recovery. They then engaged with two individuals who shared their personal journeys of battling addiction.
Through these interactions, the students gained a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by those dealing with addiction. The visit reinforced the importance of empathy, resilience, and making informed life choices. It also highlighted the crucial role that centers like Muktangan play in offering structured environments that support healing and growth.
This experiential learning opportunity allowed the students to reflect on their values and health while recognizing the significance of compassion and support in the journey to recovery. The visit to Muktangan was not just an educational experience but a lesson in humanity, resilience, and the power of a supportive community in transforming lives.
