    Fostering Inclusion and Safety: Wellness Initiatives at The Orchid School

    At The Orchid School, wellness is not an add-on—it is a way of life. Throughout the month of July, the school’s dedicated Wellness Team—comprising counselors Ms. Priyanka Salagare, Ms. Yashada Dixit, and Ms. Monalisa Kar—led a series of impactful sessions to strengthen the pillars of inclusion, safety, and empathy within the school community.

    Inclusion: Supporting Every Learner

    Inclusion at TOS means every child matters. Through domain-wise sessions, teachers were equipped to support students with diverse needs, including learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, and sensory impairments. With a focus on practical strategies and deeper understanding of different learning styles, these sessions empowered educators to create classrooms where all students feel seen, respected, and supported.

    Safe & Unsafe Touch: Empowering Students

    To ensure student safety and awareness, the counselors conducted interactive sessions on Safe and Unsafe Touch across grade levels. Key takeaways included:

    • Differentiating safe and unsafe touch
    • Understanding personal boundaries
    • Applying the NO–GO–TELL safety rule
    • Identifying trusted adults
    • Building the confidence to speak up

    For secondary students, the sessions also introduced the POCSO Act and emphasized the school’s No-Touch Policy, reinforcing that every child has the right to protection and respect.

    No-Touch Policy: Clarity and Accountability for Staff

    All staff participated in No-Touch Policy training, where the counseling team clarified professional boundaries, appropriate behavior, and responsibilities under the POCSO Act. With a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, the school reaffirms its stand on creating a safe and nurturing environment for all.

    A Culture of Openness and Care

    Through these July initiatives, counselors Ms. Priyanka, Ms. Yashada, and Ms. Monalisa not only addressed sensitive topics with clarity and compassion but also deepened everyone’s understanding of how to respond mindfully and inclusively. Their efforts have helped shape The Orchid School into an open, aware, and empathetic space—for both students and staff. At TOS, every child has the right to belong, feel safe, and thrive.
