On the 30th September 2024 The Orchid School decided to explore academics, redefine practical examinations and conduct an exciting English Literary Fest: BOOKMARK for all 11th graders. The students began preparation on their respective stalls, combining elements of art and literature to display their project. Each group picked 2 authors or poets, one of Indian origin and one of any other nationality to talk about. We often acknowledge the importance of books and the foundation it provides to strengthen our languages, but the discussions and demonstrations that took place during the Fest reinforced the beauty of books in our monotonous lives. As you walked around the Fest, you got to see a variety of books put on display by the decoration team as well as see the ingenuity and creativity displayed by each team. There was a plethora of bookmarks to take home, a wide range of exciting literature games to play and an assortment of authors to learn about. Some popular authors and poets spoken about were Tagore, Roald Dahl, William Wordsworth, Jane Austen, Franz Kafka J.K Rowling, Agatha Christie and more. Each student, for the first time, looked beyond the 20 marks examination, focusing on the aspects of learning and sharing. Books and literature are such soulful gifts that never stop giving. As children, they show us right and wrong, and they pave our future paths. As forever readers, they provide us with solace, comfort and knowledge of a few pages that will always make us feel at home.
