At The Orchid School, we strive to make learning fun, meaningful, and impactful for our students. We continuously weave new, age-appropriate approaches and strategies into our classrooms to maximise learning. While students engage deeply with the curriculum, it is equally important that they are able to showcase their learning outcomes. Making Learning Visible (MLV) is one powerful way to achieve this.
MLV is an event for, by, and of the students. Its objective is to involve parents in their child’s learning journey and help them understand the how, why, and what of classroom experiences. When students present their learning to others, it strengthens retention and deepens understanding. The initiative places students at the centre, emphasising active participation and ownership of their educational journey.
The event nurtures confidence and responsibility while fostering collaboration, social inclusion, public speaking skills, critical thinking, and the ability to respond thoughtfully to questions.
Students prepared engaging stations across subjects such as English, Hindi, Marathi, EVS, Mathematics, and Art. The showcased concepts included:
- Mathematics: Math stories, multiplication, money concepts, and 3D shapes
- English: Storytelling, grammar concepts (nouns, pronouns, prepositions), parsing of sentences, and tongue twisters
- EVS: Means of communication, road safety, water filtration, and “air occupies space” experiments
- Experiential Learning: Field trips to a garden and a stationery shop
- STREAM Activities: Hands-on demonstrations and concept-based explorations
At each station, students confidently demonstrated their understanding and explained their learning journey across the year. Through Making Learning Visible, learning moved beyond notebooks and classrooms — it became a shared celebration of growth, curiosity, and achievement.
