A three-member delegation from Internationella Hotell - Och Restaurangskolan , a vocational school in Stockholm, Sweden is visiting our School on a planning visit to explore future collaborations between the two institutions.
The planning visit is intended for both institutions coming together to explore mutual interest areas and projects for exchange – both the faculty and student exchange in the coming future.
The focus of this visit will be mainly Hospitality industry, Food & Beverage and Culture. The team will be in Pune, Maharashtra, India to meet the team of teachers from Orchid School, other professionals in the field of vocational education related to hospitality education.
This visit is also to undertake feasibility study of exchange of students, host family living, cultural understanding, field visits project titles, other logistics related to exchange in the coming future.
Day one of the planning visit started with a TOS school presentation and a presentation on Indian food and culture. This was followed by lunch and a school tour.
A Fika was hosted by Namrata Di in the evening at her place and the day ended with some shopping.
A comprehensive program encompassing various aspects of the Hospitality and food industry has been chalked out.
On 26/02/2019, the team visited the spice market at Mandai, Pune. This was to help them make a connection between the various raw material that is used in the Indian cuisine and the flavours that get added to make it palatable.
Visits to a range of restaurants right from snacky joints to fine dining has been planned for a better understanding of the Indian food culture.
Hence, after their visit to Mandai, Ashwini Shah and Anindita Ghoshal from TOS, took the delegates to Vaishali restaurant where they even got to have a peek into the restaurants kitchen.
On day three, the team from Sweden was taken to JW Marriott hotel to understand the hospitality industry.
Sangeeta di and Netre di hosted the delegates in their respective home for a couple of days so that they could experience home hospitality and also bond with the family members.
28/02/2019 - Today, Lakshmi Di and Sangeeta Di have joined the Swedish group to Mumbai where they will explore the street food trail with a guide from an organization - No Footprints.
Sweet kulfi and falooda brought an end to the street food trail.
The guide modelled the best tour guide ever! With his great sense of humour, he made everyone enjoy the experience to its fullest.
01/03/2019 - After a sumptuous brunch at Swati Snacks, a casual dining restaurant offering a wide selection of eclectic vegetarian fare in a modern and elegant setting, the agenda for the day is to explore the city.
The planning meet for the delegates from Internationella Hotell - Och Restaurangskolan was a learning trip - at the surface level about food and culture.
Although this trip had a lot more to offer at deeper level.
It was about history, trade, economics, influences from outside, language, entertainment, tourism, skills of presentation to the visitors in aesthetic ways, art at its best and much more!
